FEATURE: ARCHIVO 1993
An exercise in seeing the true beauty in youth, celebrating the future acknowledging the past.
For 2019 Italian contemporary tailoring brand Barena Venezia have created an exclusive collection - ARCHIVIO 93 - with beautifully crafted content to accompany, highlighting and exemplifying the sartorial history of Barena.
Comprised entirely of ‘Finepezza - dead-stock archive fabric’ the pieces selected by Creative Directors Francesca & Massimo were taken to the Venezian atelier to be recreated and crafted as a collection of modern contemporary garments that illustrate the wardrobe capabilities of Barena in the present day.
There is no doubt that the Archivio 1993 collection proves that Barena as a seasoned yet modernist brand can straddle the divide between street wear and work wear with effortless aplomb, providing a new and relevant aesthetic in perfect time for the transition that is occurring as the youthful obsession for strictly streetwear matures, and turns it head towards a more tailored aesthetic.
The campaign was shot in and around Mirano, a small bucolic post industrial town 10 miles from where the Barena archive resides and the cutters and tailors of the atelier work tirelessly.
To ensure an aesthetic sense of Italian small town reality, in place of models are locals selected from the surrounding towns, shot in locations that signify genuine milestones in a young persons life when born and raised in the Barena’s. Thus we see the 'Post-Paninari-esque' collective of beautiful youth traverse the town from dawn til dusk frequenting the cafe’s ,the barbers and the Osteria … an elegant insight with attitude into life and style outside of the capital ... deep in the countryside.
