HH-118389225 X SAGE NATION
After 144 years in business, Helly Hansen has had their fair share of time bettering their jackets’ functionality. If, originally, the brand was kickstarted by captain Helly Hansen’s to fostering the development of water resistant clothing for workers at sea, with their HH-118389225 line (its alphanumeric code translates as “archive”) the label dives deep into Hansen’s legacy and sets off on a quest to adapt it to today’s people’s needs — modularity being one of the key focal points.
This time around, the label’s new collection HH-118389225-212 is being marked with a capsule led by designer Sage Toda-Nation, who’s been given access to the label’s AW21 leftovers to revisit and reinterpret them with a new lens.
“It has been a pleasure working with Helly Hansen on this project. The HH logo has been something I grew up seeing. It was a brand that always symbolised reliability and purpose. The long heritage of HH has meant that it has become a brand that can be worn by anyone from any background who values product and practicality. This is something that I value,” commented Sage.
Driven by his ethos of putting purpose, perspective and balance in anything he designs, Sage has created eight one-offs that span from shell jackets as well as pieces reconstructed from storm hoods including a poncho, a wrap skirt and a waist bag.
Concretised by eye_C, each of the items are set to be auctioned off through the publication’s online store with all proceeds go to not-for-profit organisation We Go Outside Too. With the funds, Helly Hansen plans to deliver outdoor activities in the UK next year, focusing on sailing, watersports & water safety.
