DR. MARTENS X A-COLD-WALL*
Samuel Ross’ sharp-edged reworking of Dr. Martens continues this season, with new takes on two of the shoe brand’s most well-known silhouettes: the 1460 boot and 1461 shoe. In the same spirit of their first collaboration in 2020, the new reworked Doc’s echo yet again the utilitarian and architectural design philosophy of A-COLD-WALL*.
While both the 1460 boot and 1461 shoe retained the exaggerated, angular buffed leather upper seen in the previous collaborative effort, the now stand on a new lightweight, chunky double-height Bex Neotric sole — a Brutalist touch to which Samuel Ross often nods. For a utilitarian look, reflective bar code-like panels were added to the sides. The two models remain quintessentially Dr. Martens, though, with signature yellow welt stitch and a black and yellow AirWair heel loop.
