What was the moment that changed your world?
When my dad passed. That changed my whole view on the world, and made me realize that life is so random. That you have to just enjoy the present and appreciate everyone and everything you love. Before that point I was so spoiled. I was chilling, and had a feeling of “waiting for life to happen”. After that I decided to take matters into my own hands, and go for what I wanted with my life, which was the music.
Where in the world is your physical and spiritual home?
I have a strong connection to where I live now. But I also keep being really connected to my childhood home. It’s a big wooden house close to nature and the ocean. It reminds me of how lucky I’ve been in life. And it keeps bringing back memories every time I’m there - dreams that I’ve built sitting in front of the fireplace, listening to full albums on CD on my old stereo, imagining life. Life seemed so endless and exciting at the time, and suddenly you’re grown and realize that everything goes by so fast. It really makes me appreciate the small things to hang out in those surroundings.
What does the world need now?
Who and what rocks your world?
In general I just wanna say love. I mean of course when I’m going into details it’s my beautiful girlfriend, my family, friends and the music. But if I should put all of those things into one word it’s all related to love.
How do you use the world to inspire your creative process?
I get inspired by so many odd details.
To me it’s really important to have a life apart from the music. I need to have healthy relations, be close to nature, have a good cup of coffee while watching people walking by, travel to great places, and explore the world to find inspiration. If I would just sit in the studio every day, I wouldn’t have anything to write about. Often when I’m writing lyrics I take a walk around Copenhagen with my good friend and lyricist (Gísli Gíslason) to find inspiration, and talk about life in general. Reflection is key to great lyrics and music.
