GUINESS AND JW ANDERSON ENTER PHASE 2
Guinness and JW Anderson are back at it again following up their first collaboration from 2024. The latest instalment consists of 17 pieces and builds on the rich stories of craft and heritage that permeate both entities paying homage to the traditional Irish pub, a place of comfort and warmth where people gather and chat. The campaign features actor Joe Alwyn and rapper Little Simz. This second collaborative collection will be available in limited quantities. While the first collection celebrated the brands' iconic designs, this second collection reinterprets Guinness' story and heritage for the modern age through JW Anderson's unique sartorial perspective. Expanding from the limited-edition four-piece capsule collection, the new collection now includes a total of 17 pieces. The collection includes durable denim workwear, carefully tailored chore jackets, dungarees, and JW Anderson's signature twisted jeans, as well as pieces inspired by Guinness' vintage brewery uniforms. Blending practicality with luxury, tradition with contemporary design, the result is a collection deeply rooted in history while boldly looking to the future. Paying homage to the intricate Guinness brewing process, the brand's archives, renowned vintage advertising, and the atmosphere of iconic Irish pubs, the collection arrives at a time of growing interest in Irish culture. It celebrates and embodies the exceptional craftsmanship, endless creativity, and rich heritage shared by both Irish brands. The white shirt, in particular, is inspired by the Guinness archives and features a poem that first appeared in a 1938 advertisement. It's a special piece that embodies JW Anderson's longstanding commitment to storytelling and culture.
Innovative and exceptional craftsmanship is at the heart of the collection. Familiar textures like pub carpets and bar towels are rendered through jacquard, appliqué, and intricate embroidery, recreating the space in which a Guinness is enjoyed and engaging the sensory experience. For example, a bespoke terrycloth reinterprets the traditional Guinness beer mat,
transforming the familiar texture of the pub into sophisticated pieces like the iconic jacket and shorts, creating a tactile yet unexpected luxury. The Guinness Gradient jumper features a gradient intarsia knit that evokes the foamy layers of the iconic pint. The soft alpaca blend creates an airy texture reminiscent of creamy foam, evoking a sensory experience similar to sipping a pint.
