ADIDAS SKATEBOARDING X TYSHAWN JONES
So check this, 2019 was only two years back, yet since the world became caged by a rampant sociopathic virus and with the noticeable lacking of a Will Smith-esque saviour figure it seems like an eternity … 2019 also witnessed the coming together of the iconic three stripe brand and the release of the world’s most celebrated skateboarders second killer shoe, as a follow up to the 2017 debut , yup folks 2019 was the year Tyshawn delivered his signature Pro model … Forward 2 years and as I type adidas Skateboarding is raising the curtain on the Tyshawn Low /
Aesthetically the Tyshawn Low is like the 360 Pop Shove ready offspring of The Adidas Rod Laver and a pair of Forest Hills … an attractive prospect and ready for street or ramp, don’t sweat this technique! This new 2021 silhouette is inspired by the iconic rider’s roots being still firmly ensconced in the Five Boroughs - this shoe is not only a homage it’s thanking the community that birthed & raised him.
"The Tyshawn Low is the next stone being placed in the legacy I am trying to leave,” Jones says. “This shoe has motivated me and I hope that it gives people out there the same motivation when they put it on.”
Not too dissimilar to the 2017 debut silhouette Tyshawn Low is built for purpose but done luxe, premium white leather upper shares ring side seats alongside the collegiate green stripes while a classic skateboarding aesthetic as sustained - not forgetting the added suede toe cap for grip tape resistant durability.
The DNA remains the same as his debut signature Pro model and provides continuous support for high-impact game play ... One thing that has changed is the moisture-wicking PU sockliner that’s now created from recycled materials — a sustainable alternative to unrecyclable EVA midsoles that are widely used in the sneaker industry.
Here’s the natty bit … perfectly in pride of place is the Tyshawn Trefoil logo mark emblazoned in gold on the tongue, speaking volumes about the meticulous detail and quality … this is like bespoke footwear for the skater, custom fit, tailored and providing ultimate comfort for purpose.
Now that Jones further cements his bonds adidas Skateboarding, one would think that Supreme protege was meant to do some big things. Though this would not do justice to his sedulous ethic to give one hundred per cent and master the tricks and subtleties of skateboarding.
The man’s 21 years young TWENTY ONE!! And has accomplished the kinds of stuff only a true visionary can. As an already decorated skater and winner of the 2018 Thrasher Skater of the Year award, which, by the way, is a first for a New Yorker, he has graced multiple magazine covers and closed the climatic segment of Supreme’s “Blessed” video as one of the NYC Supreme-team. He’s also testament to the multi culturalism of NYC and his Bronx native’s infectious personality and ability to connect with like-minded people permits him to expand his brand through fashion, entrepreneurship and philanthropy - founding his own Caribbean fusion restaurant Taste So Good, skateboarding hard goods brand Hardies Hardware and many other endeavors.
Look up Young King in an illustrated dictionary, chances are there will be an illustration of Mr T Jones Esq.
The adidas Skateboarding x Tyshawn Low retails for $85 USD / €90 and will be available for purchase starting June 26th via www.adidas.com/us/skateboarding and at select specialty skate retailers.
