ADIDAS SKATEBOARDING SUPERSTAR ADV X MARK GONZALES
Mark Gonzales was named “Most Influential Skateboarder of All Time” by Transworld Skateboarding in 2011 and has long been inducted into skateboarding’s Hall of Fame. Born and raised in California, Gonzales has shaped and revolutionised the sport almost single-handedly and since expanded his status, establishing himself as a contemporary artist and painter.
Following up on the collaborative Superstar by Mark Gonzales which was released in celebration of the classic silhouette’s 50th anniversary last year, adidas unveils the skate legend’s follow-up colourway in core black, featuring the artists beloved “Shmoo” birds. The “Shmoo” bird has been a reoccurring theme in Gonzales’s work, two sculptures of the character sitting in the middle of Supremes London shop.
The Superstar ADV by Mark Gonzales is a heavy-duty skateable interpretation of the iconic sneaker with performance enhancements. The new blacked-out silhouette features a full-grain leather upper and more pronounced nubuck “Shmoo” patches in beaming neon colours with the trademark shell toe celebrating the brand’s heritage.
