BYBORRE: EDITION11™
Fashion in one of those industries where companies are expected to follow a tight calendar and, twice a year, in spring & summer, autumn & winter, reveal a whole new body of work to the public. Why’s that? Because this is all we’ve known.
Thought this season — or rather, this year — BYBORRE has decided to take a different route and will present only one collection in 2022. In doing so, they’ll keep exploring the possibilities of textile creation as they’ve always done, but with twice as much time to really bring something innovative to the table.
And so with EDITIONS11™, BYBORRE explored how to integrate the work of artists and creatives into a knit textile. Through means of the brand’s platform Create™, the paintings of Amsterdam-born Dewy J Elsinga (better known as “BUTTERFINGAZ”) have been converted in garments whose pattern look as if it had been done by the painter’s brush.
What’s more, for EDITIONS11™ the Dutch brand streamlined some of their core styles, from hoodies to tapered cropped pants and the Weightmap sweatshirt. By overhauling existing silhouettes, the brand wanted to take away design distractions in order to let their real strength shine: the textiles they create.
