JIL SANDER+: FW21 COLLECTION

There are certain things that will never be replaced by a glowing screen, and time spent in nature is one of them — it forces us to slow down and, at last, look up and around. Shot in Zermatt in all its Swiss Alpine picturesqueness and seemingly coldness too, the latest collection from Jil Sander+ reminds us of the satisfaction one always gets from putting a massive scarf or wooly jumper on on winter days and, let’s not forget, from spending the day outside /

Indeed the creative director duo Lucie and Luke Meier want us to experience, when the time comes, winter at its fullest and best — the collection features high-performance pieces like parkas and vulcanised boots and aesthetically distinct wool jumpers and scarfs. It’s classic apparel that’s at times very sharp in its execution, and at others fuzzy. Yet from the material choices to the thoughtful details, each piece has been elevated.

To capture the collection’s exploring spirit, they’ve worked with photographer Nikki McClarron who’s known to favour outdoor shoots in natural light. One last time, the main theme that runs through the photographs: go outside, explore!
