BOYAGIS: COLLECTION 001

A newcomer to the techwear scene, Louis Williams just launched the first collection of his namesake label Boyagis — a brand with which the British designer aims to fuse everyday garms with functionality the driving force and main focus.

With sustainability being at the core of each Boyagis piece, Williams worked with end-of-line fabrics that’d otherwise have gone to waste, and favoured natural options over polymer or metal for his branded hardware, opting for laser cut bamboo cord pulls instead. “After weeks of experimentation using different materials such as jesmonite, natural rubbers and other materials I came to the conclusion that using bamboo would be the way forward. The bamboo pieces are extremely strong and water resistant and will return into the earth at the end of their use,” Willams wrote on an Instagram post.

Designed and developed by himself in his studio in Rye, East Sussex, the three pieces that make up the debut collection — the Railway Trousers, Overlap Vest and Smock Jacket — live up to Williams’ considered approach.

Made from organic oilskin cotton fabric, the elasticated waist trousers feature several well-placed pockets throughout. Meanwhile, the Smock jacket is reminiscent of a traditional fishing smock and was accordingly made with an ultra-light, water-repellant waxed organic ripstop. Lastly, the vest was, too, made using a double-layered organic cotton dry oilskin fabric, and is double-layered and hence thicker than the other pieces.

All three pieces are now available to purchase on www.boyagis.com
