Tell us about what you do and why you do it.
Ever since I was a child, I’ve been writing poetry, and that has led me to where I am today as a musician.
お仕事の内容と、それを始めたきっかけについて教えて下さい。
音楽を作っています。子供の頃から、詩を書いていたことがきっかけです。
How does living in Tokyo impact what you do?
Tokyo is a city of great energy. I grew up in Okinawa, and while there is an immense power there, it is completely different to Tokyo. When I moved to Tokyo, I was so scared, and I actually hated it at times. Looking back though, I have a lot of happy memories and I gained a lot of strength. Now I think it’s an amazing city, and the energy to make things happen is more amazing than anywhere else in the world.
東京について感じること、また東京という場所がご自身に与えた影響はありますか？
東京は大きなエネルギーが渦巻く街。私は沖縄という島で育ったのだけれど、そことは全く違う大きなパワーがある。私はこの街に来て、恐怖を覚えたこともあるし、この街が嫌いだったこともある。それとは反対に、楽しい思い出も死ぬほどあるし、大きな力をもらったこともある。今は全部含めてすごい街だなと思うし、何かを実現しようとするエネルギーはどこよりも凄まじいと思う。
How has the current climate affected your approach to work?
I’ve always liked to ask questions of myself and do little personal thought experiments. In the current climate, that actually comes in pretty handy and makes life easier for me.
昨今の世の中の変化、そして新たな生活様式がご自身のお仕事、生活に変化をもたらせましたか？
もともと一人で自問自答したり、思考実験したりするのが好きなので、
それにあった世の中になってきたなと思ってとても住みやすいです。

What motivates you to succeed?
I think it’s gratitude. No matter how tired you are, no matter how frustrated you are, it all comes back to gratitude. If we remember to be grateful for our environment, for the people around us and for the fact that we are alive, we can succeed in any situation.
モチベーション、ご自身のエネルギーの源があれば教えて下さい。
感謝だと思います。どんなに疲れている時でも、イライラしている時でも、今ある環境や、周りにいてくれる人たち、そして生きていることへ感謝することを思い出せば、どんな時でも動ける。
How important is function and comfort to you?
Comfort and functionality are quite important to my style. I grew up in a place where we often went to the beach and the jungle, so my style reflects the fact that I don’t need unnecessary things. Also, when I was little, I didn’t like tourists very much, so wherever I go, I unconsciously try to create the feeling that I’m just popping out of my house.
「心地良さ」や「機能性」について、必要だと思う瞬間はありますか？
心地良さや機能性は私のスタイルにとって結構インポータントです。海やジャングルによく行く環境で育ったので、無駄なものが要らないスタイルが街中でも反映されている。あと、幼いときは観光客があまり好きじゃなかった。なのでどこへ行っても「フラッと出てきました」感というか「遠出してません」感、を無意識のうちに醸し出そうとしている。
Tell us about your personal environment and the impact your surroundings have on you.
I am always surrounded by the best possible people and events. It could be that I attract them or maybe I’m just blessed. Either way, I’m very grateful for the environment I’m in – it’s a driving force for me.
今、ご自身のいらっしゃる環境や、それが与えた影響について教えて下さい。
私はいつも最高な人たちや出来事に囲まれています。それは私自身が引き寄せてるかもしれないし、単に私が恵まれているだけかもしれない。どちらにせよ、私の置かれた環境にとても感謝している。そして感謝することでそれがまた原動力になるんです。
