Tell us about what you do and why you do it.
I am primarily a graphic design and analogue artist. I’ve been doing digital design for quite some time now, and I thought it was time to try something else, so I started painting more seriously. I am now combining my graphic design with my artwork.
お仕事の内容と、それを始めたきっかけについて教えて下さい。
主にグラフィックデザインとアナログでのドローイングをしたりしています。元々デジタルでのデザインをやっていてその延長でもっと好きな事やってみようかなって感じで描いていた絵を本格的にやりはじめて
今までやっていたグラフィックデザインと自分の絵を合わせた手法で今に至ります。
How does living in Tokyo impact what you do?
For better or worse, Tokyo is instantaneous and consumes you very quickly. That said, the people I have met in Tokyo have had a huge impact on my style, and I wouldn’t be where I am today or have achieved what I have without them.
東京について感じること、また東京という場所がご自身に与えた影響はありますか？
良くも悪くも瞬間的で消費されるスピードが早く感じます。東京で出会った人たちがいなければ今の自分のスタイルはありえなかったので東京という場所の影響はとても大きいと思います。
How has the current climate affected your approach to work?
There are a lot of things that are not going as well as I would like, but there have also been a lot of positives, like simplifying my lifestyle and trying new things. From an objective point of view, I feel like I’ve dropped a gear in what is usually a fast-paced life, and there are many moments when I feel like this is just right for me.
昨今の世の中の変化、そして新たな生活様式がご自身のお仕事、生活に変化をもたらせましたか？
思うようにいかない事もたくさんありますが、生活スタイルがシンプルになったり新しい事を始めてみたりと良かった事もたくさんあります。客観的に見てスピード感の早い東京のギアが１速落ちた感じがしていてこれがくらい自分的にはちょうどいいのかもと思う瞬間が結構あったりします。

What motivates you to succeed?
Listening to my favourite music and meeting my friends.

好きな音楽を聴いたり友達と会う事
How important is function and comfort to you?
It’s very important, both in terms of work and everyday life. For example, the height of my chair, the layout of my workspace, the lighting, the smell – so many elements. I think we are unconsciously aware of how comfortable we feel in our daily lives, and I think this has a lot to do with how we work. If it’s raining, I’ll wear clothes and shoes that I don’t mind getting wet, and as a result, I won’t feel stressed. I think comfort and functionality are some of the most important things in life, because they directly affect how you feel and how excited you are for the day.
「心地良さ」や「機能性」について、必要だと思う瞬間はありますか？
仕事・普段の生活問わずとても重要だと思います。みなさんも少なからずあると思いますが例えばいつも使ってる椅子の高さとか仕事をしやすくする物のレイアウトとか照明とか香りとか、なんとなく普段の生活の心地の良さを無意識に意識している気がしていて、そういうのが作業の捗り方とかにも少なからず関わってくると思っています。遊び行くときに雨が降っていたりすれば全身濡れても大丈夫な洋服や靴を身につけていればストレスを感じずにいられますしそれがその日の心地よさに直結もして1日のテンションにも関わってくると思うので心地良さと機能性は生活するうえでとても大切なものの１つだと思います。
Tell us about your personal environment and the impact your surroundings have on you.
Basically, I like to be alone and I like to be in an environment where I can work alone. However, I also like to be in an environment where there are people and I have things around me that inspire and motivate me. I am influenced by the moment – every moment – and that is directly reflected in my style. I guess that’s why my work is so fluid and I don’t have to limit myself to one style.
今、ご自身のいらっしゃる環境や、それが与えた影響について教えて下さい。
基本的に１人が好きで１人でもくもくと作業している環境が好きですが、刺激をくれる人や物事が周りに常にあったり起きたりしている環境が自分にとってのモチベーションや発想に至るので、その時々の影響がそのままスタイルとしてアウトプットされているかと思います。なので作品も流動的だしスタイルを１つに縛らないでいられるお陰かもしれません。
